Tsukihime Silk Puff
The secret behind the glowing complexion of geishas, our Tsukihime silk washcloth is inspired by the noble family legacy of Kyoto-based artist and preserver of kimono culture, Junko Sophie Kakizaki, who comes from a lineage of samurai warriors.
Made from vintage kimonos, with silk strands finer than human hair, the natural Tsukihime silk puff gently lifts dirt and refreshes your skin.
Sericulture or silk farming was introduced to Japan during the Yayoi era, a period which saw the laying down of the foundation for medieval Japan. Silk, one of the oldest fibres, was worth its weight in gold. The geisha used scraps of silk from old kimonos to wipe their skin clean, making it lustrous and porcelain like.
Crafted from vintage kimonos, this delicate, our Tsukihime silk puff plush lifts dirt from pores and polishes the skin. Viewed minutely, the cross section of silk is triangular, with a thickness of 1/30th of a strand of hair. Natural silk fibres are uneven, forming chinks in between, softly pulling out unwanted hair and exfoliating your skin.
